With the challenge of flat or even declining budgets, purchasing departments play a critical role in making every dollar stretch as far as it can. The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative, also known as BuyBoard®, strengthens your purchasing power, streamlines the procurement process, reduces administrative costs, and puts money back into your budget.

Rebates are funded by awarded vendor service fees and if in any year the fees collected exceed operating expenses, The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative Board of Trustees may return the surplus to members in the form of rebates.

The more members purchase, the more they can get back at the end of the year in rebates. The results speak for themselves.

  • BuyBoard members have received nearly $125 million in rebates since 2006.
  • 1,397 BuyBoard members are receiving rebate checks from the 2024–2025 fiscal year.
  • A combined $14.3 million in rebates is being delivered from 2024–2025 alone.

How Do I Earn a BuyBoard Rebate?

Earning rebates is simple. The more a Local Government Purchasing Cooperative member procures through the BuyBoard, the more money they may be eligible for at the end of the year if the Cooperative’s Board approves a rebate. Eligible members have the potential to earn rebates by completing two simple steps:

  1. Make a purchase using a BuyBoard awarded contract.
  2. Submit the purchase order (PO) to info@buyboard.com.

Each purchase order must be submitted to BuyBoard, and its associated service fee must be paid by the vendor to earn rebate dollars from that purchase.

How Are Rebates Calculated?

For individual members, every dollar of qualifying purchases starts accumulating and adding to your potential rebate. There is no limit to how much your organization can earn in rebates each year.

Purchase orders that have been entered and the service fee paid by the vendor from Sept.1 through Aug. 31 may be eligible for a potential rebate from that year.

Purchase orders that have been entered, but the service fee has not been paid by Aug. 31 may be eligible for potential rebate the following year.

Rebates are not guaranteed in any given year and must be approved by the Cooperative’s Board of Trustees annually.

How Are Rebates Delivered?

Approved rebates are delivered to active, qualifying members by the end of each calendar year. Payments are made electronically via ACH or mailed via physical check to whomever signed your interlocal agreement with BuyBoard.
